Adult ADHD Assessment

Adult ADHD Assessment

Clients begin by booking an initial consultation with a psychologist, during which the psychologist will determine whether a full ADHD assessment is clinically appropriate. If an assessment proceeds, research-based tools are selected and tailored to the individual’s needs and presentation.

An ADHD assessment can support adults in gaining a deeper understanding of their unique profile, including both strengths and challenges. For some individuals, a diagnosis can provide clarity, self-understanding, and access to strategies or accommodations that support daily functioning. The assessment process is grounded in neuro-affirming, evidence-based practices and aims to help individuals move forward in a way that feels supportive and aligned with their lives.

Book an ADHD Consult

Format of an ADHD assessment:

Client Interview
You will meet in person with a psychologist for a comprehensive intake interview, which is a central part of the assessment process. This session focuses on your attention-related concerns across your lifespan and may include discussion of family history, medical information, prior assessments, and significant life events. This information helps the psychologist understand your unique experiences and identify areas where support may be helpful, guiding the remainder of the assessment.

Additional Data Collection
Based on the interview, the psychologist will determine which evidence-based screening tools or questionnaires are appropriate. These may be completed in person or electronically and, in some cases, by individuals who know you well. You may also be asked to share relevant records (such as school reports or previous assessments) to provide additional historical context.

Review, Diagnosis, and Report
Once all information is gathered, the psychologist will review the data and apply clinical diagnostic criteria. A final appointment will be scheduled to review results, including standardized measures, clinical impressions, and recommendations. If a diagnosis is made, it will be discussed in detail. Following this session, you will receive both a written assessment report and, where applicable, a formal letter of diagnosis for use with medical providers, workplaces, or educational institutions.

Assessment Fees

The initial assessment appointment is $235. If, during this first session, the psychologist determines that a full assessment is not clinically indicated, no further fees will apply beyond this appointment. When a full assessment is recommended, the remaining cost is typically divided into two payments of $1,175, billed as the assessment progresses rather than upfront. Total costs may vary depending on the complexity of the diagnostic question and the time required to complete the assessment. Insurance coverage may be available under psychology benefits, and we offer direct billing where possible, as well as payment plans to support accessibility. We aim to accommodate clients’ insurance and capacity whenever possible and encourage discussion around billing options.
